Largest United Church Worshiping Congregations

Below is a list of the 11 United Church of Canada congregations who reported average Sunday worship attendance of 400 or more.  In order of reported size (figures come from Year Book & Directory: Volume I Statistics, 2008, published by the United Church of Canada/L'Eglise Unie Du Canada) are the congregations:


  1. Timothy Eaton Memorial, Toronto (ON) - 575 people/Sunday
  2. Metropolitan, London (ON) - 525
  3. Kingsview, Oshawa (ON) - 500
  4. Trinity, Summerside (PEI) - 470
  5. Wellington Square, Burlington (ON) - 450
  6. Collier Street, Barrie (ON) - 445
  7. McClure, Saskatoon (SASK) - 430
  8. First Metropolitan, Victoria (BC) - 422
  9. Park Royal, Charlottetown (PEI) - 415
  10. Islington, Toronto (ON) - 401
  11. Eglinton St. George's, Toronto (ON) - 400
You will note that of the 11 claiming more than 400 worshipers in attendance on average throughout the year, 7 of 11 come from Ontario; 2 come from PEI; 1 from Saskatchewan; 1 from British Columbia.

Though Timothy Eaton Memorial claims the highest average Sunday worship attendance Metropolitan, which is second on the list features a slightly higher membership (1,767 for Metropolitan to 1,676 for Timothy Eaton).
